Euro 2008 Final
Sunday, 7.45pm
Germany v Spain

So here we are. Open Goal's Swiss Cheese Swingometer has been plunging to and fro between profit and loss for the past fortnight. The idea was to gauge whether each tournament match lived up to expectations, and to eventually come out with a positive or negative result. Simple.

We have swayed wildly like a 14-year-old experimenting with alcohol for the first time, but after a procession of respective nail-biters and coma-inducers, the end result is that we are a mighty '+1' heading into tonight's Euro 2008 showdown.

So for weeks of planning, plotting, predicting and provaticating, it comes down to this.

Reasons to be cheerful:

- I've got 18/1 on David Villa being top scorer
- Shots of Heidi Klum in the crowd
- The Euro 2008 Swiss Cheese Swingometer to be shown to offer groundbreaking research to the football world

Reasons to be fearful:

- Shots of Torsten Frings on the pitch
- Ruthless Germany efficiency
- The Euro 2008 Swiss Cheese Swingometer to be shown to offer absolutely nothing conclusive to the football world despite three hard weeks of toil.

Open Goal Hysteria Hunch:

Few predict it will be a classic, though the two contrasting styles may leave this one wide open in terms of predicting a winner. Spain appear to be the punters' favourites, but whether they can translate that into some entertaining fodder remains to be seen.

We predict (out of 10): 6 yodels.
