Lee 'Millsy' Mills arrived at Cov in November 2001 following an ill-fated 16-month spell at Portsmouth where a £1million switch from Bradford City had only yielded 4 goals in 30 appearances.

Then 31, the ladies favourite (real name Rowan .. no, really) had already moshed around a few frontlines including those of Derby, Port Vale and, notably, the Bantams, where frivolous talk of England call-ups frittered around the stands at Valley Parade.

Mills joined Cov at a difficult time though, with the club flogging £24million worth of players that season including Bellamy, Hartson, Kirkland .. oh, and Carlton Palmer. His initial one-month loan spell was followed by a £250,000 switch, but the goals dried up like that old Highfield Road pitch and Mills was punted off to Stoke like an old disgarded piece of turnip, having scored an average of one league goal every two months.
