"I
am not a number, I'm a free man," bellowed the
Prisoner. Greedy sod, he should have been grateful,
because Coventry City striker Paul Williams is remembered
in the tomes of football folly by just a solitary letter.
Yes, one blessed letter.

CHELSEA
YOUTH TEAM PROGRESSING NICELY...
THURSDAY
28th AUGUST 2008 |
 |
 |
 |
I've
heard about starting them young, and we've
all heard stories of 7-year-olds being
signed up by professional clubs, but in
the same way as some might say they bought
the Premier League title, it looks as
if Chelsea are aiming to pull a swift
one in their progression of young talent.
But you can't get one past Open Goal,
Roman.
You see, if you're Chelsea, you're free
to pursue whatever business model you
like, and while we may not see many Blues
players emerging up through the youth
ranks, we are at least witnessing the
next best thing - the assemblance of a
team of very young looking players.
Think about it - the £30million
capture of Robinho is the reported signing
of a 24-year-old father, but to most he
vaguely looks old enough to buy a pack
of B&H, let alone a pack of Pampers.
Then there's Deco, who celebrated his
31st birthday yesterday but regularly
still gets asked for ID at Boujis, and
the coup de gras, Shaun
Wright-Phillips, who is so young he even
has his own sponsored area at the Early
Learning Centre.
Don't rule out a late-summer move
for Ole-Gunnar Solskjaer anytime soon...
