"I
am not a number, I'm a free man," bellowed the
Prisoner. Greedy sod, he should have been grateful,
because Coventry City striker Paul Williams is remembered
in the tomes of football folly by just a solitary letter.
Yes, one blessed letter.

CUP
FEVER SAFELY QUELLED...
SUNDAY 18th MAY 2008 |

|
Well thank God that's over with for another
year.
It's bad enough having
to sit through the endless sycophantic
drones that the BBC spill out about the
FA Cup, its history, the legacy, 'le magic'.
Then you've
got bandwagon supporters in daft hats,
some geezer crying to 'Abide With Me',
Lesley bloody Garrett, and Lineker and
co going through the motions trying to
sound excited about Cardiff City's midfield
offering.
But more than anything else, my biggest
relief was that I won't have to contend
with the Motson-Lawrenson combination
for another few months. Sweet Jesus, there's
a cure for insomnia in there somewhere.
Now you might feel this rant is a little
bitter, and you'd be right, seeing as
my side went out in the 4th Qualifying
Round, and I suppose my biggest sin is
that I insist on getting quite excited
about the Cup Final year after year. But
then I see Brian Barwick and it all goes
wrong ..
I suppose we should be grateful. I mean,
at least Garth Crooks was kept pretty
quiet this year, eh?
