AROUND THE CLUBS - LIVERPOOL
WEDNESDAY 5th MARCH 2008

The Reebok Stadium has never been a happy hunting ground for Liverpool under Rafa Benitez, but thankfully we put all that behind us on Sunday and cruised to a comfortable 3-1 victory.

After some anxious moments in defence early on, we were gifted a bizarre lead in the 11th minute. Bolton goalkeeper Jussi Jaskelainen dived to save a shot from Steven Gerrard which was heading wide of the post, but the ball spun off him and rolled into the empty net. Cheers Jussi!

Ryan Babel was a constant thorn in the side of the Bolton defence throughout the game and Flyin Ryan was rewarded for his efforts by extending our lead with a well taken goal in the 59th minute. Liverpool were in total control of the game and Fabio Aurelio has obviously been feeling a bit homesick lately because he wrapped things up with a superb left foot finish in the 75th minute, that had “Made in Brazil“ stamped all over it.

Bolton grabbed a late consolation through substitute Tamir Cohen, but it was too little, too late and the three points deservedly went back to Anfield.

The win was the perfect start to a crucial week for The Reds. With two home games against Wet Spam and the Looney Toons to come over the next few days, it gives us the opportunity to take control of the race for fourth place in the Premiership, ahead of our second leg Champions League clash with Inter Milan next week. COME ON YOU REDS!!!

Keep the Faith
