The Moss Side bad lad is a reformed character,
although did anyone else wonder if he'd
even flinch at the news of losing a £40,000
sponsorship deal with Nike? What's that
.. about a week's wages... ?
As for Newcastle United standing by the
midfielder, well anyone who witnessed
their general Premier League form last
season will know that they need all the
help they can get, so writing off £6million
worth of talent probably wouldn't be advisable.
I'll conclude with a very tongue-in-cheek
and utterly unofficial Joey Barton quote
upon his release from prison, in which
he said (nothing of the sort .. ):
